  Chapter One

  This is where I am

I look at the pictures resting on my desk, in my office. A picture of my smiling wife and children looks back at me. I do this all for them, for my family. On days like this, I have to remember that they are the reason I breathe and continue to push through this all. Without them, I would have left this all behind.

They make the stress worth it. I have done a lot in my life that I am not always proud of, but I have made it so that my wife and kids never want for anything. After all, we have been through it is the least I can do.

My eyes shift to the picture on the wall of my brothers and me. I have never been like Bobby and Marcus. I have known since I was thirteen that I would lead a totally different life from them. While Bobby, Marcus, and Marie spent summers with Grandpa Marcello and Grandma Marie Ann, I would go and spend my summers with my Uncle Alanzo.

By my second summer with my uncles, it was clear to me where my life was headed. At first, I resented it as much as Bobby has. Then I started to see things differently. I started to plan. When I finally went to my uncle with my plan, I was nervous as shit and surprised as hell when he agreed to go along with it.

With power comes a heavyweight and all eyes watching every move you make. My family has lots of power, so as you can imagine all eyes have been on the Locatelli family for some time now. Now that I am making moves we are being watched even more. These plans have been a long time coming.

I rub my temples. So much has changed, and a lot of things are different for me. I need this change. I need to be free of all of this. But when you rock the boat, you are bound to turn it over. Well, I have flipped that bitch on its head, and now I am feeling the pressure.

I haven’t had time to process all that has happened in the last year because I have had to field having everything but the kitchen sink being thrown at me. I don’t regret the decisions I have made. I know what I want. That is something I have been very clear on, but it is all starting to sink
in.

I turn my attention to a picture of Ellen. Her bright eyes smile back at me from the frame. A small smile touches my lips as I take in the secret smile on her face just for me.

So beautiful and sweet. You would never think a woman as beautiful as her could hold so many secrets and such a dark past. I know every single one of those secrets. I think that’s what drew me to her.

Just that thought throws me back in time to when I met Ellen. I wanted her from the moment I saw her, but she didn’t make it easy. In fact, nothing about us has been easy. Not easy at all.

  Chapter two

  The Beginning

  Sam

  California, Club Desire LA Branch

There is so much to understand about me. First off, I, like my older and younger brother have gone to the finest schools all my life under the pretense that I would become a lawyer. That never happened and was never meant to.

I have always had big shoes to fill. I was twenty-one when I started to take on real responsibility for the family and by the time I turn twenty-eight my uncle gave me more power than any twenty-eight-year-old should ever have.

To the world, I am simply Sam Mairettie, the Business mogul. I have bought and sold several companies, in addition to building a few ventures of my own. It is not hard to establish a successful business when in fact you are known behind closed doors as LaSalle Samuel Locatelli, the Capo of the East Coast Locatelli family.

Yup, you got it. I am everything my brothers aren’t and that is why I am here at Club Desire. When I first heard of this place I wanted in. Not for the sex and games, but for the profits. I have watched the club from afar. It has been more of Bobby’s thing, but I can’t say I haven’t enjoyed a little pleasure here a time or two.

Tonight I have finally gotten the twins Remi and Ramses, the owners of Desire, to have a sit down with me. Herb is the club manager back in New York and although he likes to act like he is running things he is just a front. Remi and Ramses are the two I need to talk to if I want a piece of this golden goose.

I have known the twins for some time now, but friendship is friendship and business is business. Remi and Ramses are private about their business dealings and even more selective about who they get into business with. Honestly, they don’t need me, but I have placed a sweet offer before them that I knew they wouldn’t be able to refuse.

So now here I sit, negotiating a deal that will yield a hefty price tag. A deal that gets me one step closer to my goal. I knew neither brother would refuse the opportunity to expand the club into Italy with my families help.

“We do this, then we want to ensure the same standards are kept in the Italy branch as we keep here. Privacy is important for what we offer,” Ramses says as he looks me in the eyes. Both twins have hazel, amber like eyes that blaze when they are excited.

The warm brown of their Persian skin and their attractive, strong dark features speaks volumes to how they have made their clubs so successful. In the beginning, women were signing with the hopes of getting their hands on one of the twins. On top of that, the two know how to surround themselves with beauty.

“I assure you that nothing will change from the model you have here,” I reply.

Remi nods and Ramses narrows his amber eyes. Remi is the one to speak next. “It is to be clear that your uncle nor anyone else from your family will use our clubs to conduct your other business interests. I’m sure you understand what I mean,” Remi says pointedly.

“Just as your father keeps his business dealings away, so will my family. I have no intention to taint this partnership. You will find that the Locatelli name will be taking on a new face so to speak, within the future, so you have nothing to be concerned with,” I affirm.

“It all sounds well, Sam. We like that you are bringing your family’s resources to us. It is also fitting that you are not directly tied to your family publicly. I think you can start the paperwork,” Ramses says then looks at his brother for confirmation.

Remi nods and reaches for his glass of cognac. “To a lucrative arrangement,” Remi says with a blinding smile.

“Now if only we could get your brother back into admissions at the club. We have never had a recruiter as successful as he is. His conversion rate rivals my own,” Ramses chuckles with a smile of his own.

“I don’t think that is happening anytime soon. If he has it his way one of these days he’ll be off the market,” Is all I say to the smooth banter.

I won’t reveal to them that I have watched my brother develop a secret crush on one of the firm’s attorneys. I wasn’t surprised to find out he hasn’t been going to the club as much as he used to. I think he was gone from day one.

I have a smile of my own as I sigh inwardly in relief. This deal will be one of many that I need to make my plan work. The more proof I can show the more receptive all parties involved will be in the end.

“Ah, I see our special guests have arrived,” Remi says with a sly smile curving his lips.

I turn to see a group of women heading our way. All of them are gorgeous in their own right, but there is one brunette that sticks out to me, taking my breath away. I have always had a thing for women with dark features. It is no wonder that I am drawn to this woman immediately.

Everything about her has my attention, from her lithe curves to her long dark hair, and those lashes that are so long they seem to hide her eyes in a mysterious way. She looks like she holds all types of dirty secrets that I can’t wait to uncover.

What really makes her stand out is the look on her face, as if she really doesn’t want to be here. While all of the other women look eager to please, she looks as if this is the last place she wants to be on earth. I respect that.

I have enough women falling all over me. I haven’t had a good chase in a long time. Her look of indifference is like a challenge to me. As the others file into our private area, I stand and block the seat next to me. The dark haired beauty lifts her eyes toward me as I move to block her forward movements, placing a hand on the small of her back, I lead her to the seat I have kept vacant just for her.

I notice her eyes flicker to the red head she had been keeping close to. Her friend nods and encourages her to follow my lead. Her chocolate eyes swing back my way. I swear I am speechless as her brown eyes collide with my grey ones. She is one stunning woman.

Her lips are bow shaped and a natural ruby red, or at least they seem to be. Her olive skin sets off her features. I would not discount her having some type of Spanish or Indian blood. She is sheer exquisite.

The navy dress she has on fits her curves to perfection. I can’t wait to peel her out of it. As we take our seats, she crosses her long legs. I run my eyes over her once more, and it strikes me that I’ve seen her somewhere before.

“Where do I know you from,” I ask as my brain tries to process the question for itself.

“I don’t believe we have met before,” she says softly in the most alluring voice I have ever heard.

“I don’t believe we have, but I have seen you somewhere before,” I reply with a crooked smile.

“She is a model,” the redhead offers. “You have probably seen some of her work.”

Recognition sets in, and I nod. My sister Marie has wanted to model for forever. I think we have all been subjected to her magazines and ramblings about this model or that one. I am now positive I have seen this beauty sitting next to me before.

I nod. “Yes, I believe that is it. My name is Sam,” I say holding out my hand.

She looks reluctantly down at my hand, deliberating whether or not to take it. I turn up my smile and wink at her. A small smile creeps onto her lips, causing her to finally take my hand.

  “Ellen,” she offers.

“What can I get you to drink, Ellen,” I say and wave over our private waitress.

“Oh, no thank you, Sam. This is not my scene. I will be leaving soon,” Ellen shakes her head.

I tilt my head to the side. “Not your scene,” I smirk. “You say th
at as if I am some type of pervert.” I chuckle when her cheeks color.

I won’t tell her the real reason I am here, but I will give her a half tell. I place my hand on her knee and lean into her ear. “This is not my scene either, Gorgeous. I brought my clients here to enjoy themselves. I had no intentions of finding pleasure here as well. That is until now,” I say close to the shell of her ear.

Ellen pulls away and looks me in the eyes. I can see she is panting. I take a moment to enjoy the rise and fall of her ample breasts. I allow the corners of my mouth to turn into an even bigger smile.

Her dark eyes turn almost black as they scan my face. Ellen shakes her head as if to clear it. She visibly rears back from me.

“Sam, I don’t want to give you the wrong idea. I am here with my friend. I thought she was taking me to an actual club. I have been through a lot, and I am not ready for,” she pauses and moves her finger between the two of us. “Whatever it is you are looking for.”

“All I am asking for is a drink between two new friends, Ellen,” I say knowing very well I want more than that, but I am willing to play the game.

I have set my sights on what I want, and I will make that happen one way or another. I see it in her eyes that this is not one sided. Whoever messed up in her past will not be the roadblock to what I want. To me, they, whoever it may be, are already forgotten.

Ellen’s shoulders sag as she rubs her temples. “Okay, I’ll have a glass of wine,” she smiles softly.
